Please meet Attorney of the Week, Rasha Gerges Shields, a partner at Jones Day in Los Angeles. Rasha is a former federal prosecutor with more than 20 years of first-chair trial and appellate experience. She represents companies and executives in government investigations, regulatory enforcement actions, and complex civil litigation. She also assists companies in conducting internal investigations and developing effective compliance programs.
Rasha is a respected leader in the legal profession, a trusted advisor, and a champion of diversity and racial justice. Moreover, she has an active pro bono caseload and is committed to public service. Notably, she oversees the LAPD as Vice President of the Los Angeles Board of Police Commissioners, and serves on the Supreme Court of California and Courts of Appeal Bias Prevention Committee.
She is the President of California ChangeLawyers, is on the board of California Minority Counsel Program (CMCP), and is involved in several other diversity pipeline programs, including Just The Beginning – A Pipeline Organization. Further, she is a past president of the Arab American Lawyers Association of Southern California (AALASC) and the University of California, Los Angeles – School of Law Alumni Association. Rasha immigrated from Egypt and is a first generation professional.
