
Personal Experience
Please meet Attorney of the Week, Melissa Martinez, who is a Partner in the Baltimore office of McGuireWoods LLP where she regularly represents Fortune 100 companies in complex business litigation matters. Melissa represents clients in a range of litigation matters including construction, patents, financial services, and civil rights among others. She attended Notre Dame of Maryland University, earning a Physics degree. Following a Fulbright scholarship in the Philippines, Melissa attended the University of Maryland Francis King Carey School of Law.
Melissa got her legal start as law clerk to the Honorable Andre M. Davis in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland and then the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. At McGuireWoods, Melissa serves as chair of the firm’s Asian Lawyers Network, on the steering committee of the firm’s Appellate Justice Initiative, and as co-chair of the firm’s Consumer & Retail Financial Product Litigation Sub-team. She is also on the Baltimore Office’s Pro Bono and Recruiting Committees.
Outside of the firm, Melissa is involved with a number of organizations serving her community and heritage including ¡Adelante Latina!, the HIPPODROME FOUNDATION, INC., and the Francis D. Murnaghan, Jr. Appellate Advocacy Fellowship. Lastly, she is a lifetime member of the National Filipino American Lawyers Association (NFALA)
